I’m a dental hygienist and owner of Parkside Dental in Dubbo. The single most essential piece of equipment I use is my Hu Friedy mirror. It’s the one product that will cause me to throw a tantrum if it’s not on my tray.
What’s good about it
This is a two-surface mouth mirror I use with every patient. It allows you to easily access and view more areas of the mouth. You don’t have to turn it back and forth; you just hold it in place and you can see more sites. As it’s one of Hu Friedy’s bigger mirrors, it has a large field of view allowing you to see more area. The reflection is very clear and distortion free. The surface doesn’t fog up and I’ve noticed that it is much more scratch-resistant than other mirrors I’ve used.
There’s a range of different handle options so you can find the most comfortable fit for your hand. It’s a tough mirror and due to its scratch-resistance, it lasts longer than other brands. As a hygienist, I use this mirror multiple times a day.
I have purchased 20 of them so there’s one on every tray in the practice. I really can’t recommend this piece of equipment more highly.
What’s not so good
This is an exceptional mirror to work with, but it’s a lot more expensive than other brands—and by that, I mean multiple times more expensive.
