Estelite Sigma Quick is a composite resin I use with composite veneers or anything to do with front teeth. A lot of other composites come in many different shades and require blending with a guide. Estelite is very easy to use and provides a highly aesthetic result. Although I mainly use three shades from Estelite Quick, I stock six shades from Estelite and this covers more than 90 per cent of clinical situations that require aesthetic anterior composite.
What’s good about it
The job is less stressful and can be completed faster because the material blends nicely with its surrounds. It’s quite opaque and works well with young and middle-aged people. Older people have enamel that’s more translucent so you don’t always get a good result with them.
It can be used in a wide range of aesthetic situations. It’s not overly sticky, it moulds well and is firm enough when cured. It polishes up beautifully. I wouldn’t use it for big restorations, instead going with a basic composite like Filtek or Supreme. For front teeth or teeth that can be seen, the aesthetic quality of Estelite is unsurpassed. I’ve also used it on back molars, but only on areas that are not heavily loaded.
I’ve used many different brands of composites over the years but Estelite is something I make sure we stock in the practice. I’ve had great success with it since I began using it two years ago.
What’s not so good
There are other aesthetic composites that can achieve a better result but they’re time-consuming and complicated to use. If you need an aesthetic result on a tooth that requires different levels of opacity than normal, a different brand of composite may be required.
