The first KaVo chair I purchased lasted for 20 years and was still a very good chair when I replaced it. The replacement chair has been in my surgery for 11 years now and is still going strong. Due to the strong Australian dollar, I recently decided to upgrade a couple of other chairs and we installed two Estetica E70s a few months ago.
What’s good about it
I’ve always used the European delivery and the new swing-arm design is very efficient with a longer reach and dual positions. The fibre optics are all LED and the attached scaler is far superior to their previous model.
It is a suspended chair rather than the elevation point coming from the ground. The programming is all digital and reminds you when it’s time to perform an intensive sterilisation cycle. It can also be programmed for a large number of operators.
Previously I had two high-speeds and one low-speed but now with the better high-torque low-speed motors, I run it with two low-speeds and one high-speed. The low-speed motors are smaller, more powerful and very smooth. The foot pedal is cordless with a charge that lasts for about three months. The cleaning systems and traps are more efficient, and it’s very user friendly for both dentists and nurses.
It’s also a very good-looking chair—patients love it. It has a good comfort level and lots of adjustments for comfort positions.
What’s not so good
It’s quite large. I placed them in two of my biggest rooms but it would have been too bulky for my slightly smaller surgery. In a laid-out position, it’s longer from head to toe than the previous chair. That could be an issue in a compact space.
Where did you get it
KaVo.
