The MyRay X-Pod is a portable digital imaging system that can be held in the palm of your hand. I’ve had experience with many different brands of X-ray units and found this one to be convenient and easy to use.

What’s good about it

As this unit is completely digital, it’s a great time saver. It connects directly to a computer and the images are exported very quickly. If an image is unclear or positioned at the wrong angle, we can take them again immediately. There is no need for chemicals or developing so it’s a very convenient process.

The images are high resolution, making them easy to read. This makes diagnosis straightforward and a simple matter to spot decay. Not having a plate that needs to be processed is a further time saver. Compared to other units, it requires less exposure time and generates less radiation making it safer for clients and staff.

The whole unit is small and easy to handle. We regularly move it between our two surgeries with little difficulty.

We‘ve had this unit for nearly 10 years and it has been reliable throughout that time. We had to change a sensor once, but other than that we have not had any issues.

What’s not so good

It’s a bit more expensive than other machines. And, of course, if anything happens to the sensor, it is expensive to fix or replace.
