The NSK Surgic Pro is a handpiece and motor system designed for implant and oral surgery. It has many applications with plenty of power and torque for the most difficult surgical cases.
What’s good about it
The NSK Surgic Pro allows you to utilise the most suitable handpiece for each surgical application. In my practice, we routinely use it for surgical extractions and it’s particularly useful with wisdom teeth extractions. It quickly and efficiently cuts through gum and bone in order to easily remove the tooth. It’s also a very handy machine when undertaking implant surgery.
It’s a stand-alone unit so we keep it on NSK iCart in order to move it from room to room. We purchased it about 12 months ago and it has been completely reliable during that time. We do a lot of extractions in our practice so the Surgic Pro is used very frequently.
The unit requires very little maintenance and just the usual wipe-down after surgery. All the irrigation lines, saline bays and things like that are single-use and thrown out and replaced between patients. If there are back-to-back patients then you simply ensure that standard infection control protocols are followed.
What’s not so good
It can be a little time consuming to set up as you need to hook up a new irrigation line every time it’s used. You also need to have enough space in the practice to store the unit. It’s not a piece of equipment that every practice would need but if you do a lot of extractions, it’s worth the investment.
