Over the course of my career, I’ve used many different 3D printing systems. The SprintRay Pro 95S dental 3D printer is reliable and is one of the easiest systems to use.
What’s good about it
The process is seamless and logically follows one step after the other. Basically, it’s just printing, washing and curing to create reliable, accurate and precise results. We use it for study models, surgical guides, night guards, and temporary or provisional restorations.
The models are printed from resin and each layer is light cured as it’s built up. The Pro 95S is a fast printer with study models taking 25 minutes. Larger items will take a bit longer but compared to its competitors, it’s one of the fastest printers on the market.
Each item needs to be designed. You can use a software program to do it yourself or have it professionally designed. That file is then loaded onto the slicing software where it will prepare the design to be print-ready. It will also work out how long the printing process will take.
Everything I have 3D printed with this unit is accurate and only needs minimal adjustment. I’ve been 3D printing for quite some time now but have only owned this unit for the past year. I’ve had no issues with the printer though I did need to change a propellor in one of the wash units.
The 95S is such a reliable, easy-to-use 3D printer that I’m actually in the process of buying another one for my practice.
What’s not so good
It’s marketed as an open system, so you can use different brands of resin with it. In Australia, we can’t get a lot of these resins, so Sprintray resins need to be used and they’re a little pricey.
