He is currently President of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Academy of Orthodontics (AIdOR).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I implemented DentalMonitoring, advanced AI-powered remote monitoring system, in my practice in 2020. All my patients are now monitored remotely with DentalMonitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was interested to measure how using this system would increase the efficiency of braces treatments in orthodontics &#8211; more specifically, to study the impact on reducing the need for unnecessary in-person visits, timely triaging of emergency appointments, and hygiene improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twenty of my patients undergoing braces treatment were included in this study and were separated into 2 groups: Group A were monitored with DentalMonitoring and Group B had traditional office visits with no remote monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of an 11-month period, the following data were collected for analysis: the total number of in-office appointments, of emergency appointments, the number of hygiene alerts\/instructions sent to the patients, the total number of hygiene visits scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The patients who used DentalMonitoring had 24.5% fewer practice visits as a result of eliminating unnecessary visits and triaging emergencies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This study found a higher number of emergencies detected in the DM group (A) compared with the control group (151 vs 121). Indeed, the DM\u2019s AI was able to detect issues early on before they deteriorate and cause the treatment to go off-track. This early detection allowed us to remotely solve many of these emergencies when possible, by providing automated and personalised instructions to the patients, eliminating the need for an in-office visit. For example, in the case of an open clip, the patient could be guided remotely on how to close it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the patients who used DentalMonitoring had 80.8% fewer unscheduled emergencies. This was not the case for group B, as 34% of the emergency appointments could have been avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>With DentalMonitoring, group A patients received 312% more hygiene instructions and alerts through the DM app and had fewer overall hygiene visits scheduled.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study shows that the monitoring led to improving compliance, specifically regarding hygiene. In this study, the DM patients received significantly more hygiene instructions\u2014103 automatic oral hygiene notifications based on the AI assessment through the DM app\u2014compared to 25 oral hygiene notes written in the patients\u2019 folder for group B. This led to a noticeable hygiene improvement for the DM patients while group B necessitated 40.4% more hygiene visits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, there is a time-saving aspect due to increased efficiency. The DM group had 24.5% fewer practice visits as a result of eliminating unnecessary visits and triaging emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion\">Conclusion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using DentalMonitoring with braces treatments proved to be a very efficient way to detect and manage emergencies remotely. Closely monitoring my patients\u2019 treatments through regular scans screened by the AI meant that issues that would usually go unnoticed were detected more often and earlier, allowing action to be taken in a timely manner to prevent deterioration and solve issues remotely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, using DM with braces treatments helps me to improve patient compliance and overall treatment efficiency. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This content hosts feedback from patients, healthcare professionals or experts using our products.
