Specifically, periodontal disease promotes the growth of oral pathobionts (e.g.,&nbsp;<em>Klebsiella aerogenes<\/em>), which are then transmitted to the infant gut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This transmission alters gut immunity and increases susceptibility to T-cell-dependent enteritis.
