This is a great composite I use for many posterior restorations. I just use the one shade, B2, and it works in the majority of situations while looking very natural. It’s a good choice of composite even if I’m working on a large restoration.
What’s good about it
It’s easy to work with. I find that some other composites are quite sticky and difficult to handle. P60 handles nicely and doesn’t stick to your instruments. The finished restoration polishes up beautifully, creating a nice natural look.
It comes in a four-gram syringe that’s designed to minimise wastage. It sculpts well and can be shaped to match the tooth anatomy. It makes it easy to provide good marginal adaptation and inter-proximal contact. Once it’s placed, it only takes 20 seconds to cure.
The finished restoration is very strong and long-wearing. Filtek P60 has been used in our practices for years. While composites are expected to last seven to 10 years, I’ve seen restorations coming through that are 14 years old and still going strong. Filtek P60 is just a good all-round posterior composite.
What’s not so good
Filtek P60 only comes in a limited range of shades. Fortunately, I find that the B2 works in most situations. If you want to finesse your restorations then there’s only A3, B2 and C2 available.
