Shepperson Education

In a profession increasingly dominated by so much choice in dental education, it’s easy to forget that quality education needs to include the fundamentals of dentistry: care, science, and clinical judgement. Drs Andrea Shepperson and Alistair Graham are helping dentists connect with those principles—offering an educational experience grounded in biology, ethics, and long-term thinking.

At Shepperson Education, the focus is not on sales strategies or cosmetic shortcuts, but on purposeful, biologically sound dentistry that stands the test of time. It’s a kind of CPD that encourages dentists to think deeply, act deliberately, and plan with clarity.

A Values-Led Learning Community

Shepperson Education goes beyond technical skill. It’s a place to refine the way you think, plan, and communicate. Courses are structured around six core principles:

* Clinical Integrity

* Depth Before Hype

* Patient-Centred Communication

* Commitment to Continuous Learning

* Innovation with Purpose

* Mentorship

These principles shape every programme—creating a clinical philosophy that respects tooth structure, builds patient trust, and supports durable outcomes.

Mentorship & Continuous Learning

“A key element of Shepperson Education’s approach is ongoing support. One-to-one Zoom calls are part of the Tooth Wear Masterclass and all dentists who attend courses, including the Roadmap series are offering Alumni status. How many times do you learn new skills and then feel lost when you return to the practice. Dr Alistair Graham and I are building a community of support, sharing cases, articles and tips long after the event.”

Designed for Everyday Practice

Flagship programmes like the Tooth Wear Masterclass and The Occlusion Course are real-world, hands-on learning experiences. Participants leave with practical frameworks to manage functional wear, occlusal challenges, and biologically-driven smile design, and the support continues for 6 months post-course for those who choose mentoring. “Our experience is that dentists who follow up and seek support through that implementation phase, do really well”

Technology with Purpose

Digital tools are integrated throughout the curriculum—not for show, but to enhance clinical thinking and patient communication. Intraoral scanners, Digital Smile Design, Modjaw, and 3D printing are used to improve predictability and embrace streamlined protocols with high levels of visibility for both dentist and patient.

Communication That Builds Trust

At Shepperson Education, communication is reframed. Dentists learn how to present treatment in a way that’s honest, visual, and grounded in clarity. Informed consent is treated as a meaningful conversation—not a checkbox.

AI-driven documentation tools are also taught, helping dentists create tailored consent documents that are both efficient and legally sound. “We look at the power of new AI tools, such as Smilecloud YES; then we build the biologic understanding to ensure we can deliver on AI promises”.

A Place to Reflect and Refocus

Courses are hosted at the Shepperson Education Centre on Waiheke Island, New Zealand—a purpose-built environment designed for focus and deep learning. The setting is calm, the food exceptional, and the groups small—fostering connection and growth.  Dentists describe the experience as transformative—not just clinically, but philosophically.

Short courses in the Tooth Wear Roadmap series are held in Australia or New Zealand.

Clarity. Purpose. Progress.

Shepperson Education offers more than continuing education. It offers a curriculum to pause, rethink, and move forward with confidence. In a fast-moving profession, this is dentistry done with depth.
