Ease In Shields are protective loupe inserts for when using a laser. They sit comfortably behind the loupes and are easy to place and remove.
What’s good about it
When using lasers, it’s imperative to have a clear visual of the treating area while protecting the eyes. When using lasers of multiple wavelengths, this can be difficult for wearers of magnifying loupes and prescription glasses.
Rather than needing different protective glasses for each laser with a different wavelength, Ease In Shields are an elegant alternative. They work behind any eyewear and wrap around the sides of the face. They come in a wide range of colours that indicate protection for specific wavelengths. There are also versions that offer protection from curing lights.
Following standard infection control and safety will keep the shields clean and uncontaminated. A strap can be connected to wear around your neck to keep them close.
I use multiple lasers with wavelengths ranging from 800 nanometers to around 2780 nanometers. Rather than finding protective glasses for each particular laser, one of the multi-wavelength Ease In Shields covers the entire range. It’s quick and easy to place the shield and remove it when I’m done. Basically, this product allows you to protect your eyesight quickly and hygienically. The shields are manufactured from a lightweight material, and I’ve had no problems with fogging. When worn behind my loupes, they’re very comfortable. They can also be worn if you’re using a headlight.
What’s not so good
With new lasers emerging, the current range of Ease In Shields may not cover all wavelengths being introduced into the market. Ideally, it would be great if one multi-wavelength shield protected the eyes from all types of lasers. However, that technology isn’t available at present.
