FDI recently launched its second Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Sustainability in Dentistry, designed to equip dentists and dental teams with the knowledge and tools to embed sustainability into their daily practice.

This dynamic, self-paced online course—titled Practical Applications of Sustainability in Dentistry—builds on the success of the first MOOC, offering approximately three hours of interactive learning.

Through MOOC 2, participants will explore the environmental impact of oral healthcare and discover evidence-based strategies to improve patient outcomes while reducing their ecological footprint.

What you’ll gain from the course:

  • A deeper understanding of how oral healthcare contributes to environmental challenges
  • Practical guidance on delivering environmentally conscious, evidence-based dental care
  • Access to a formal post-course assessment and a printable certificate upon passing

FDI has also launched the Sustainability Ambassador Prize 2025, offering an exciting opportunity for participants to take their sustainability journey one step further.

By completing a short six-question survey after the course, learners can enter a competition to win one of two prizes of CHF 500. The survey invites participants to share personal reflections on what they learned and how they plan to apply sustainability principles in their professional context.

The two winners will be selected in December 2025 based on the depth and creativity of their responses.

Visit the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry project webpage, enrol in the course, and join the growing global community of oral health professionals committed to building a greener future.
